Highland Hills Sanitary District

Responsibilities

Highland Hills Sanitary District was created under the Sanitary District Act of 1936.  Contrary to what many think, Highland Hills Sanitary District is not part of the Village of Lombard. It is a separate government agency.

Most of the revenue the District receives is generated from user charges, based on water consumption and sewer usage. The balance of revenue comes from the District's tax levy and connection fees.

The District provides sanitary sewer service and potable water supply to the area under its jurisdiction - see District map below. Water service is provided to roughly 350 households, with sewer service to over 400 customers. Water service is provided via two main wells - located at 13th Place facility.

The District is governed by a three-member Board of Trustees appointed by the DuPage County Board Chairman. The Board meets twice a month, at 11:00 am, on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month in the District's administration building located at 566 13th Place.

Board meetings are open to the public.
